Abstract:
The aim of this study is to investigate about the rotary inverted pendulum system which is controlled by PID control system. The authors proposed a vertical rotary pendulum rod method based on parameter control. Through analysis of the parameter value of the pendulum rod during vertical and the rod angle as the feedback coefficient the swing time of the pendulum is reduced. This experiment derived the inverted pendulum motion equation of the pendulum rod using the rotation angle regarded as the input.

Title:
Investigating Subsurface Structures Using Geoelectrical Resistivity Technique on Portion of GAEC Site, Accra, Ghana

Abstract:
In the crystalline basement rock environment of Kwabenya, Accra in Ghana, geoelectrical resistivity technique involving horizontal electrical profiling (HEP) and vertical electrical sounding (VES) were conducted on Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) site. In order to determine the thickness of the overburden and subsurface structures, 1-dimensional geoelectrical resistivity survey was carried out at the site using Abem Terrameter System and adopting the Schlumberger electrode configuration. From fourteen anomalous points obtained from HEP, the VES surveyed was carried out and the data modelled using the Resist 87 software. The results showed that the area is underlain by 3, 4 and 5 resistivity layers with the 3-layer being dominant. Also, the modelled VES curves indicated H, Q, A, HK, KH and HKH type resistivity curves, with the H-type being dominant at about 57% occurrence. The underlain bedrock was encountered at resistivity values between 114.2 Ωm and 898.4 Ωm, with the overburden layer thickness varying from 2.9 m to 38.6 m. There was an observed lower bedrock apparent resistivity values at the gently hilly northern section compared to the small valley at the southern section, that suggests there is more development of fractures within the bedrock of the northern part. These observed varying overburdern thickness and multiple layers, and the inferred fracture system in the northern section of the area shall require engineering ground improvement to withstand the load of any high rise building during any possible infrastructural expansion at the site.

Design and Analysis of Expansion-Deflection Nozzle by Varying the Position

Abstract:
The altitude compensating characteristics of the Expansion-deflection (ED) nozzles is being considering in upper stage of launch vehicles. The plug nozzle has a centre body, which help to improve the performances of the nozzle. This project deals with the designing and analysis of the nozzles using CATIA V5 and ANASYS Fluent respectively. The project can be done by varying the linear position of the E-D nozzle at different percentage such as 25%, 30% and 60% after the throat of the nozzle. The flow filed obtained through the analysis of the nozzle at various conditions are evaluated and the conditions of the outflow are found out.

The Effect of Temperature on Quality of Climacteric Fruit in Cold Chain

Abstract:
Temperature is the key to keep the quality and integrity of product after harvest in cold chain. The effect of temperature on climacteric fruits is demonstrated by climacteric characters such as the changes in respiration rate, colour, texture and flavor etc. The climacteric character represents an important determinant of the ripeness, maturity and storability. Banana is known as a tropical, climacteric fruit that presents fast post-harvest ripening; therefore, it is a very perishable product. Inappropriate storage temperature and retail practices can accelerate the quality loss of banana. Therefore, it should be maintained under properly controlled-temperature not to lose the quality throughout the supply chain. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the quality of banana during their ripening period by monitoring their respiration process and closely watching skin colour changes over time.
