Quarter Century Appraisal of Disinvestment in the back drop of Performance of Indian Central Public Enterprises

Abstract:
India, after independence adopted a socialistic system of economy for fostering speedy economic growth through industrialization of the country. This was strongly supported by the Constitution of India, Industrial Policy Resolutions and Five Year plans, which together facilitated and encouraged establishment and growth of Public Enterprises in India to fulfill the need of social responsibilities, which included reducing the regional imbalances, accommodating reservation policy, generating employment opportunities etc. After four decades of establishing Central Public Enterprises (CPEs) i.e. during the Nineties, the Indian economic environment was facing fearsome situation of scarce foreign exchange reserves available to meet the domestic as well as international demands. Therefore, the Government of India implemented New Economic Policy, known as NEP 1991, in the country to bring back normalcy in international trading and domestic requirements. The NEP of 1991 involves Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization, shortly addressed as LPG, whereby CPEs was subjected to Disinvestment. Further, Government of India, based on the performance of CPEs, categorized as Mini Ratna, Navaratna etc. with financial autonomy and encouraging them to expand their activities internationally and become global giants. Under such a paradoxical situation and also a fact that it is over 25 years since NEP has been implemented and disinvestment in CPEs was progressing unabated, it would be appropriate to study “Quarter Century Appraisal of Disinvestment in the backdrop of Performance of Indian Central Public Enterprises”.

Wave propagation using the SPH method

Abstract:
Conventional methods for numerical fluid simulation have characteristics that hinder analysis in free surface conditions. So, the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics model (SPH) can be used in these conditions. This method has the characteristics of being meshless, Lagrangian and divides the control volume into particles. In this study, a C ++ code was written using the SPH methodology for the fluid wave propagation situation.

Title:
Environmental Benefits of Glass Recycling

Abstract:
Glass is produced from a significant amount of raw materials.Glass production is an energy-intensive process since large quantities of material need to be heated to high temperatures. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the environmental sustainability of glass production. Recycled glass (cullet)usage reduces emissions and consumption of energy and raw materials. However, the cullet process requires high quantities of energy.This paper aims to assess and compare the life cycle environmental impacts of two different recycling rates of glass beverage packaging in Turkey. Life cycle assessment has been used to evaluate the environmental sustainability of the glass production following the ISO 14040/14044 standards. The environmental impacts of glass with 44% cullet and glass with 65% cullet are estimated and compared in this study. In total eleven environmental impact categories have been estimated according to the CML 2001 method, using GaBi LCA software.The use of cullet as input in the manufacturing glass process allows a decrease in the consumption of raw materials and a major reduction in energy consumption. The results of this paper show that cullet reduces all the life cycle environmental impacts of glass production up to 31%. Most of the environmental impacts are from the production of glass packaging stage. The environmental impacts can be reduced further by improving the glass cullet process and increasing the cullet utilisation.

Title:
Importance of correlogram analysis for kriging metamodels

Abstract:
This paper presents correlogram analysis for kriging metamodels. Kriging metamodels have been used in simulation since 1989. Correlogram analysis is the core issue for kriging because the kriging weights are estimated using theoretical correlogram models. Model assumptions directly affect the covariogram and correlogram estimations. Correlogram estimation and fitted theoretical model selection must be done carefully before using in kriging metamodels. Correlogram analysis is shown on four test function.According to result there are valid experimental correlogram estimations for test functions which are considered in this study. Thus theoretical correlogram model are able to be obtained.The experimental correlogram estimations have decreased rapidly as h increases for two and three dimensional functions and, have decreased slowly as h increases for eight dimensional functions considered in this study.
